Whatever that means

One of the observations that I annoyed Mandy with when the tree got blown down was a nonchalant ‘ah well, the kitchen will be brighter’, which is true but was perhaps a bit premature when the tree was still sprawled across the garden. Now that it’s mostly gone, it’s OK to take advantage of the light by perching a child on the table, sitting on the window seat and taking photos.

Ellen’s just back in from the playing in the garden with Anthony. She’s already made all her super-cheesy faces while wearing her wooly hat and now she’s decided to take it off. Hair explosion.

Me, I’ve been chatting and then sitting on the sofa reading about Aperture presets and making some new Silver Efex presets for soft black and white portraits. I’m expecting a baby soon (not me personally, that’s the beer). No, a friend is soon to pop and I’m down for the early photos. What a treat. The whole thing is inherently cheesy so the only question is how far to go with it.

Other than that I’ve been editing old photos – scanned from film. Some nice ones from New York from 2003, just before Ewan was born. Fond memories and a touch of regret for a Voigtlander Bessa R with a 35mm lens. Jesus but it’s a labour of love cleaning up the dust spots. Only the very best are going to get that treatment. So far I’ve scanned four films. Only eight ring binders full of negatives to go.
