The Horse Guards’ entrance

Eventually, I had to say to them, “Look George, Danny, listen to me will ye. This austerity business, it’s no workin’. The folk don’t like it. Will ye just gie it a chuck. Gonnae?”

No, obviously, I wasn’t seeing Danny or George. Folks a bit lower down the pecking order, although they were very pleasant and reasonable, within the context of a completely unreasonable timescale. But that’s how things go these days.

So, with a nice train ride down, a quick flight home and a good meeting in between everything went swimmingly, apart from the wee knife on my keyring that I remembered before heading for departures. Just time to put it in an envelope and post it home. Hopefully it’ll make it. “
